At Flag Ponds Nature Park there are over three miles of dirt trails, roadsides, and boardwalk that must be maintained. This requires many hours of weed whacking and machete work. Between May 31 and June 9, Park Technicians Kris Ervin, Brandon Haines, Kelly Bolen, and Robert Stevens and their supervisors Travis Bailey and Brian Bussard II recognized that this maintenance was badly needed. Although it was not their normal job, they devised a plan and completed this arduous task in just 8 days while also performing their routine duties: collecting entrance fees, opening and closing tasks, park patrol, and cleaning duties, repair projects, etc. These six employees, worked on two different shifts of three employees per shift, but worked as a team to ensure the task was completed and completed to a high standard of excellence. This team is worthy of recognition because of their commitment to maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for the Calvert County citizens that visit Flag Ponds Nature Park.
