Monarch Watch

One of the most captivating insects on the planet, monarch butterflies have been experiencing a tremendous decline in their population over the last couple of decades. In an effort to help, Calvert Stewards and naturalist staff are collecting data for multiple monarch citizen science projects.

Volunteer Opportunities include:
  • population surveys
  • monarch tagging
  • habitat restoration
  • data entry
How You Can Help
You can find more information about this project and register for monarch monitoring opportunities through our new volunteer portal https://calvertstewards.galaxydigital.com.
Monitoring Locations
The meadow at Battle Creek Cypress Swamp

Once volunteers know the proper monitoring techniques, they can also participate on their personal property if monarchs and milkweed are present.
